HugelkulturI'm thinking about using something like this but running along contours on the slope with a path on the up side - hopefully it will work similar to terracing. Instead of mulching small branches of the tree trimmings (larger branches harvested for firewood for water and space heating in winter), we could use them as the base of these mounds. We probably won't get around to doing it until next winter now as the ground becomes too hard over the sunny months, but we can start collecting the sticks and placing near where we want to create the mounds.
