Permaculture Techniques - Useful Animals in a Permaculture System Sheep Harvest Easily yarded, skill required to shear wool. Slaughter as for pigs. Treatment Wool needs to be carded, spun and washed before being knitted or woven all of which needs skill and some equipment but is suitable for small scale set up. Surplus animals may be slaughtered for meat requiring same treatment as for pigs and goats. Meat can be dried in screened and shaded air cupboards, and part salted or smoked or kept refrigerated or frozen. Use Wool, meat, manure, pest plant eradication, grazing (fire control).
